Oscar the bobcat recovering at Wildlife Rescue Center
MIDDLEBURGH, N.Y. -- Fawns, birds, cats, dogs and even horses and cows are all run of the mill animals you'll find at the New York Wildlife Rescue Center in Middleburgh. But it doesn't stop there.
Meet Oscar the bobcat. On June 19, Oscar underwent three hours of surgery at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals to repair a broken pelvis and femur he suffered after being hit by a car.
Now, the young male bobcat is recovering at the rescue center until vets decide if he can return to the wild.

Oscar got his name for his "Oscar the Grouch," but despite that, the center's director says even he deserves a second chance.
New York Wildlife Rescue Center Director Wes Laraway said, "As a wild animal, Oscar will probably never be friendly, never be appreciative of what we've done, but I believe that Oscar was definitely worth saving as a young cat and a beautiful animal."
Vets are hoping a steel plate, screws and a new hip will help the bobcat fully recover, but if not, Laraway said Oscar can spend the rest of his life at the rescue center without a care in the world.
