MASSACHUSETTS -- Despite a defeat by the Massachusetts House of Representatives, Governor Deval Patrick says the fight for casino gambling in the Bay State may not be over.
Governor Patrick said there's still enough interest in casino legislation to re-open the discussion.
Despite a defeat by the Massachusetts House of Representatives, Governor Deval Patrick says the fight for casino gambling in the Bay State may not be over. Ryan Burgess explains.
Even though the plan was defeated by the House, Patrick said legalized casino gambling would provide much needed property tax relief for the state and it would help to bridge the $1.3 billion deficit.
Under one scenario, the governor said an upcoming slot machine bill could be expanded to include three resort-style casinos.
Patrick summed up his position on re-opening the discussion by saying issues that die in one political session tend to come back over time.
