AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- Amsterdam plans to help landlords spruce up some of the city's aging apartments.
Landlords who have been holding back on making repairs to their buildings because of the cost now have somewhere to turn for help -- the city's Urban Renewal Agency.
The agency is offering $400,000 through the state's HOME Program. The program helps building owners with repairs and rehab work on rental property by providing a match toward the cost of the work.
Amsterdam plans to help landlords spruce up some of the city's aging apartments. Our Mark Repasky has the details.
The city hopes the program will improve the quality of rental units, while encouraging investment and keeping rents affordable.
There are some eligibility requirements. For more information on the requirements or to find out how to apply, contact the Amsterdam Urban Renewal Agency at 843-5190.
