GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. -- A Mohawk Valley man head butted a police officer while trying to escape arrest, according to Gloversville Police.

We're told say Richard Viera Jr. ran from officers on Yale Street. He was caught a short time later, but police say Viera resisted arrest and then intentionally head butted the officer.

Police say Viera was carrying crack cocaine and marijuana. He has been charged with assault, resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
