SHARON SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Thunder Customs shop in Sharon Springs is open for business.
“It's been a long wait, it's been a long, hard wait,” said cyclist Wes Edwards.
Harder still for the Hotalings, who lived in a motorhome outside the building for the entire process. In October of last year, nothing was left but a pile of ashes, and starting at square one was a real challenge.
"Long, exhausting, nerve racking, mentally and physically it just exhausted us. We're ready to go now though," said owner Jody Hotaling.
The Thunder Customs Motorcycle shop is back in the saddle after a fire destroyed their building seven months ago. Kaitlyn Ross caught up with the owner of the shop, who said it's been long road.
But their customers are back, and ready to go. They showed up in droves on Saturday for the open house. They were there to buy gear, and support the Hotaling.
"This is a really beautiful place, a reasonable place for people to do their shopping for their bikes. Get stuff to make your bike look pretty, anything you want, they can get," said Edwards.
They also fix bikes, sell insurance, and have gear for the biggest rider, to the very smallest.
"It's from all over, and it's not just Sharon Springs, it's from all over, Utica, Syracuse, Albany, they're going to roll in from all over," said Hotaling.
Their customers stayed loyal while the shop was closed and now Thunder Customs has a month long waiting list of people who refuse to bring their business anywhere else.
