AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- Little Leaguers in Amsterdam are scoring big, thanks to a generous gift from St. Mary's Hospital.
The hospital awarded $10,000 to the city to upgrade the little league diamond at Veteran's Park. It was part of the hospital's 100th birthday celebration and its continuing dedication to improving the community.
"The goal is to redo the infield, dugouts. We're going to put some arbor vity around the outfield, so it's really just going to enhance this entire diamond, for the city, for the kids, for their families. So it should be a great project for the city of Amsterdam.," said Vic Gullinelli, CEO of St. Mary’s Hospital.

"It's offering us opportunities for quality of life improvements, which will hopefully inspire people to visit and live in Amsterdam. So we're really excited about this," said Amsterdam Mayor Ann Thane.
Work on the diamond will start next year.
