AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- It's the multi-million dollar question nearly everyone in the Rug City is wondering. Just who are the lucky lotto winners and the city's newest millionaires?
"I haven't actually heard who it is, but I'm very curious to find out myself," Mayor Ann Thane said.
The mayor may be in the dark, but plenty of people think they know. One Alderman says he's heard it's a resident of his ward.
"I heard that Mrs. Pratt won $3 million on a scratch off," Alderman Dan Roth said.
When we called to confirm that with lottery officials, we hit the jackpot. A spokesman says Rose Mary Pratt is the latest and the last Royal Riches winner.
What would you do with $3 million? That's a question one Amsterdam couple is asking after winning a scratch off lotto game. Just who is the winner though? Mark Repasky tells us that could be one of the worst kept secrets in the city.
"What is she going to do with it? That would be nice to know," one woman asked.
We stopped by the Fantastic Sam's where she works but when we went inside, her co-workers said she wasn't in. That didn't come as much of a shock.
"I imagine they'll go on a nice vacation," Roth said.
We stopped by her house to see if that was the case and although they were home, they weren't ready to talk just yet.
"It's nice it's around here. It's always someplace else," said one person.
We were told to expect an official announcement later this month.
So even though the secret's out, finding out what's next for the lucky couple is still a mystery, though we understand the Pratt's have seven grandchildren who will surely help out.
