TROY, N.Y. -- Troy students got a treat on Tuesday when famous author Jerry Spinelly paid a visit to Riverfront Park.
Spinelly, who writes kids books, spoke about the importance of reading. Fourth and fifth graders from Tamarac Elementary School knew the author's works well. They are required to read his books in both grades.
"The students were the ones who drove this program and they got a chance to ask the questions that they'd been asking in school, that was just wonderful," said Janice Toomajian, Tamarac Elementary School Librarian.
