COLUMBIA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Women of all ages volunteered their services Saturday afternoon to help a family in need. Lowes and the Habitat for Humanity came together to recognize National Women Build Week and to help a Columbia County family build a new home.
Lowes donated a $5,000 grant to help the nonprofit organization. Saturday, Women constructed wall panels for the Khan family's new home. Organizers said the week serves more than just one purpose.
"I think is just very empowering for women to be able to pick up a hammer and a nail. Women build community, Women build friendships, and Women build support for others," said Women Build chairwoman, Joyce Lapenn.
