ALBANY, N.Y. -- It was a magical evening at the Mesoamerican Studies Center at UAlbany. A benefit concert was held in honor of Christopher DeCormier, a dedicated anthropology student.
Mesoamerica is a region between Mexico and South America, including Honduras and Costa Rica. A fund was set up in Christopher's name so other students could have the opportunity to do field research in that area.
Attendees of the concert were serenaded by Peter Yarrow of folk group Peter, Paul and Mary and Counterpoint.
It was a magical evening at the Mesoamerican Studies Center at UAlbany. A benefit concert was held in honor of Christopher DeCormier, a dedicated anthropology student.
"Well for me being in Albany doing a concert with Counterpoint is an extension of what Peter, Paul and Mary did. To be able to unite music, with folk music, it takes extraordinary taste,” Yarrow said.
"A lot of it will be a nostalgia cause a lot of the people that come grew up with Peter, Paul and Mary. They come, a lot of it is what they remember and what they teach their kids,” said Louise DeCormier.
All the proceeds from the celebration concert will be donated directly to the Christopher DeCormier fund.
