ALBANY, N.Y. -- A record number of runners lined the streets of Albany for the 20th annual SEFCU Labor Day race.

Nearly 700 people took part in the 5K race. The event raised more than $20,000, and this year all proceeds will go to Gilda's Club of the Capital Region.

Gilda's Club provides emotional support for those affected by cancer. Organizers say it's a great community event that helps raise money for a good cause.

A record number of runners lined the streets of Albany for the 20th annual SEFCU Labor Day Race. The event raised more than $20,000 for Gilda's Club of the Capital Region.
SEFCU President & CEO Michael Castellana said, "Who isn't affected by cancer? Everybody in one way or another has either someone in their family or someone that they know that has been affected, and they provide emotional support. There is nothing about the medical side of it, but it's more the people side of it, the heart side of cancer, and they do a tremendous job."

In celebration of the race's 20th anniversary, every 20th registered runner was handed a free iPod Nano. In the end, it was Albany resident Chuck Terry who was first to cross the finish line.
