ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a suspect is in custody after a construction worker was stabbed and had to be rescued from a roof at the University at Albany.

Officials say a man working on the roof of the passageway around SUNY-Albany's Indian Quad dormitory called police at about 8 a.m. Tuesday to report that he had been stabbed.

Fire officials say because of the injured man's size, he had to be placed in a rescue basket and lowered from the roof using a pulley system attached to a fire truck's hydraulic ladder. The man was taken to Albany Medical Center. His condition wasn't immediately available.

The university's campus police chief sent an e-mail to students alerting them to the incident and informing them that the suspect has been apprehended at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.
