COLUMBIA COUNTY -- A Copake man is facing felony charges after State Police said he drove his car into a group of people outside a tavern in Hillsdale over the weekend.
State Police in Livingston arrested Zakariah Russell, 25, for second-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment after the incident at the Mount Washington House Tavern on Route 23.
Columbia County 911 received a call around 3:30 a.m. Sunday reporting that a fight had occurred and some patrons were injured after being struck by a vehicle.
Officials said Russell was involved in an altercation with several others, which ended up out in the parking area. As Russell was leaving, State Police said he drove his Toyota into a crowd of people.
Three people were injured including the tavern owner, Kelly Fox, 35, who was taken to the hospital with a broken leg, bruises, contusions and a severe laceration to the head, Justin Zignon, 21, who was treated and released for possible fractured ribs, and Bryan Zignon, 21, who suffered a foot injury.
Russell was arraigned in Claverack Town Court and sent to jail without bail.
