TROY, N.Y. - A Troy woman charged in the stabbing death of a former boyfriend during an argument has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges.
Prosecutors wanted to charge Kimberly Mayo of Troy with second-degree murder in the death of Keith Levin to death on May 21st. But a grand jury indicted her on the lesser charge of first-degree manslaughter.
A Troy woman charged in the stabbing death of a former boyfriend has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges.
Mayo pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter charge as well as a criminal weapon possession charge in Rensselaer County Court on Wednesday.
In a police statement on file with the court, Mayo claimed she and Levin argued on and off all day and she acted in self defense.
