TROY, N.Y. -- A Troy man is facing misdemeanor charges on allegations he followed a 13-year-old girl who was walking to school.
Troy police responded to the Troy fire station early Thursday morning for a complaint of a man in a car who was following a girl while she walked to school.
An investigation found the same man followed the girl at the same time the day before. He reportedly drove his Oldsmobile Cutlass slowly and close to the girl, who originally just ignored him. When she was followed Thursday, she became frightened and ran into the fire station at 115th Street and 5th Avenue where police were notified.
The suspect was located in Cohoes and he and his car were positively identified by the girl.
Dillon Skaarup, 21, is charged with first-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in Troy City Court and an order of protection was issued directing the man to refrain from harassing the victim.
