ALBANY, N.Y. -- An Albany man is facing charges after police said he assaulted his 4-month-old baby causing life-threatening injuries.
Gregory Milgo, 29, called 911 Tuesday after the child stopped breathing. When paramedics arrived, they found the child in respiratory distress and immediately transferred him to St. Peter's Hospital. After getting the child breathing again, he was transferred to Albany Medical Center where a complete exam was done the following day.
A cat scan showed several injuries to the boy that were consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
Police said Milgo admitted to detectives that he had grabbed the baby about half a dozen times in the past month and shook him violently.
The baby, who was released from the hospital last month after being born three months premature -- sustained serious injuries. Doctors believe the child will survive but will be permanently disabled.
