SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Folks and their four legged friends pounded the pavement at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds for the "Busy Bone 500" walk Saturday.
The dogs and their owners helped raise money for the Saratoga County Animal Shelter. This is the second annual walk. Last year's event raised more than $8,000.
Organizers said they hope to surpass that amount through silent auctions, raffles, and vendors. And while it is a day for fun, there are other reasons for the event.
"To help raise money for animal shelter, to help spay and neuter pets, to help lower the costs of drugs for the older people. We do senior for senior pets. It's to raise money to help the general population of dogs," said Carol Lang.

Each dog that attended the event got a free bandana, and each pet owner received a doggie bag with refreshments.
