ESSEX COUNTY, N.Y. -- An old Adirondack jail may not face its last days anytime soon. Officials are taking another look at the Essex County building to consider it for other uses.

At the direction of an Adirondack architectural group, the 130 year old jail in Elizabethtown may not face the wrecking ball. It was built in 1878 and when a new jail was built nearby, the old jail was deemed obsolete.

The producers of a movie set to film in Essex County have asked to use the 24 bed jail as a location.
