SCHODACK N.Y. -- Slick roads were the cause of two fatal car accidents Friday. Laurie Covert from Averill Park died after crashing through the guard rails and going over an embankment on Route 150 in Schodack. Police said slippery pavement seems to have played a role.

Meanwhile, a Schenectady woman died on Route 20 in the Columbia County town of New Lebanon.
