ALBANY, N.Y. -- "These people in these videos make me sick. Their behavior is repugnant and reprehensible," said John Flannagan, State Senator from Long Island.

The video shows half a dozen teens beating a Florida girl. They were arrested and are facing numerous charges.

Now, Republican State Senators want to take it a step further making it a crime for putting the video online.

"We need to give tools to people in law enforcement and we should never glorify this type of behavior," said Flannagan.

Go on to a site like YouTube and you will find fights from across the country, even ones that were shot here in the Capital Region. Many fights feature the homeless and Senators said as long as there is no penalty for putting these videos up, the lower and lower they will go.

You can find just about anything on the internet, but people who post fights or other violence online could find themselves in hot water if a new law is passed. Curtis Schick explains.

"For entertainment they are going to beat hurt and kill innocent human beings so they can get this hit on the internet. Its’ wrong and we have to send that message," said State Senator Martin Golden of Brooklyn.

Civil liberty groups think the law will not hold up in court, but lawmakers believe it is not a violation of first amendment rights.

"If you were standing on the quad at the capital getting a sandwich at lunchtime and watched someone get jumped you'd be a witness to a crime. Absolutely, it will stand up," said Robach.

Senators will also be look to change the law for juveniles. People convicted under this law could face as much as four years in prison.
