ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Hispanic population is one of the fastest growing minority groups in New York and on Saturday, Governor David Paterson welcomed the State Assembly's Puerto Rican and Hispanic Task Force to the Capitol.
The annual Somos El Futuro conference is centered around trying to find ways to meet the needs of the state's Hispanic communities.
"They are all concerned about the plight of the state and have ideas about how to change it. And the second issue is that all people of Hispanic decent are under recommended in government,” Paterson said.

The Somos el Futuro legislative conference brings together nearly 7,000 New Yorkers. The attendees represent a cross section of the state's Hispanic community.
