AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- A potential Democratic candidate for Congressman Mike McNulty's 21st Congressional District seat says she won't be running this time around.
Susan Phemister -- who said she was exploring a run -- has decided to call it quits.
The Democratic chair for the City of Amsterdam spoke with us in January about possibly running for the seat.
A potential Democratic candidate for Congressman Mike McNulty's 21st Congressional District seat says she won't be running this time around.
She said she felt comfortable on the fundraising front but has decided to focus on her current job as a vice president at Reuters in New York City and running the Amsterdam Castle.
She purchased the building a couple of years ago with her husband and they've restored a large chunk of it. The couple and their home were recently featured on HGTV's Re-Zoned show.
Phemister is the second person in the past week who's decided not to make a run for the seat. Schenectady Mayor Brian Stratton is also out. That leaves former Clinton staffer Tracey Brooks and Albany County Legislator Phil Steck -- the only two confirmed Democratic candidates in the race right now.
