ALBANY, N.Y. -- We're hearing more local reaction to news that local Congressman Mike McNulty will not be seeking re-election in 2008.
He's expected to make that announcement at a news conference Monday.
The news has sparked rumors on who his possible replacement could be.
The list is long, and includes everyone from Jim Tedisco or George Amedore, Jr., on the Republican side; to Democrats like Assembly Majority leader Ron Canestrari or even Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings.

We caught up with fellow Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand to get her reaction on McNulty's possible departure. Calling him the best of the best, Gillibrand says if and when he leaves, he'll be sorely missed.
"He's someone I admire and is a personal mentor of mine. I will miss him so terribly, having him there to talk about votes and issues. He's one of the best people I've ever encountered in my whole professional career."
Sources tell us it isn't likely he will step down immediately, but if he did, that would set up a special election - which would mean significantly less time to campaign.
