Springtime getaways

It’s a little early for summer vacations, but where can you go now for a getaway? Maybe a long weekend not too close but one not too far.

How about an overnight in Cooperstown? The Baseball Hall of Fame is open. In fact, it’s always open. The crowds are light right now so it’s easy to get a room. If you stay a few days you can see the underground marvel, Howe Caverns. A good getaway for couples or the whole family.

Fort Niagara is open year ‘round and you can find the fort across the water from Niagara on the Lake on the American side. It makes for a good day trip.

It’s a little early for summer vacations but where can you go now for a getaway? Maybe a long weekend not too close but one not too far.

Make it a three day weekend in Baltimore and visit the Inner-Harbor. It’s warmer to our south and it’s all open right now with plenty of things to see and do. Check out the National Aquarium while you’re there.

You can find some good weather in May around the northeast. Beat the crowds in Rockport, Massachusetts and enjoy a small, quaint seaside town. It’s only 40 miles north of Boston.

My overnight choice? The Seaward Inn. It’s rustic, laid back and peaceful. The ocean air will do wonders for you!
