For the throngs of wannabe rockers obsessed with "Guitar Hero," there is now a portable version for Nintendo DS: "Guitar Hero: On Tour."
Users strap a little fret board to the handheld and then play almost the same as on a console. Only instead of flipping a lever to strum, you swipe the guitar pick stylus over the strings on the touch-screen portion of the DS, which is also where you can do things like re-string a popped string.
And though you're not going to get a bunch of friends to gather around your DS to watch you rock out, you can wirelessly link to another DS to either compete with a friend, or play together, one on lead guitar one on backup.
The "Guitar Hero: On Tour" bundle, rated E for everyone, is out this week and will rock you for around $50.

It will probably come as little shock to gamers that the highly-anticipated "Spore" coming out this fall, is being created by video game legend Will Wright, the original designer of "Sims City," along side a team he assembled at Electronic Arts.
"Spore" is making news now though because those who can't wait to get involved can download an early-creature creator and help populate the world with their own creative critters.
"There are a couple of different ways of looking at 'Spore,'" said Alex Hutchinson of Electronic Arts. "For us, our tagline being 'Universe in a Box,' what we mean by that is we wanted to create the ultimate creativity tool. We wanted to make digital Legos that let you make creatures and vehicles and buildings and all the different elements in your world, and then see them come to life and provide and interesting type of challenge and game."
"Spore" germinates on store shelves on September 7th for PCs and Macs. The price has not yet been set.
