“Guitar Hero: Aerosmith”

Sweet news for guitar hero fans who are also Aerosmith fans. “Guitar Hero: Aerosmith,” a game that lets you virtually become part of the band and retrace its rise in rock history, is getting set to roll into stores in late June.

The game is similar in gameplay to the recently-launched “Guitar Hero 3,” only with, obviously, an emphasis on one band.

“Right now, we have 60 percent Aerosmith songs, 40 percent bands that Aerosmith is either inspired by, has toured with, or is involved with in some capacity,” said Aarom Habibipour of Neversoft Entertainment. “Once you play the first two opening songs which are the non-Aerosmith songs, Aerosmith then takes the stage and you switch from being Axel or Judy or whoever to being Joe Perry and then Aerosmith comes on stage and then it's like a concert. We try to make it feel like a show so you get the feel of that opening band switch to the main attraction sort of thing.”

Sweet news for guitar hero fans who are also Aerosmith fans – “Guiter Hero” Aerosmith” is set to be released in June. Adam Balkin has more.
Develops say the actual band members were very hands-on, hoping to help users feel as much as possible, the way they do when they’re on stage in front of thousands of screaming fans.

So how did all those guys get involved in the first place? What motivated them to help develop a game based almost exclusively on themselves? Creators say when they were looking for a clean copy of an Aerosmith song while making “Guitar Hero 3,” it was guitarist Joe Perry who rushed to the rescue.

“Joe Perry's son was a big ‘Guitar Hero’ fan and Joe Perry was watching his son play ‘Guitar Hero’ and he really wanted to get involved with the project and when the opportunity came by to find the master, Joe Perry personally dug up the master, got it ready to go, delivered it to Activision and was like, ‘Well, what else can we do?’ And so that's basically how the talks started,” says Habibipour.

“Guitar Hero: Aerosmith” will be available for all the consoles. Price has not yet been set. Developers say other big name bands are now approaching them about similar games, but they won't divulge which bands.
