Stocks reversed an early downturn to finish with gains yesterday despite oil prices hitting record highs and downbeat earnings reports in the financial sector.
Here's how things start out today:
The Dow starts out at 13,020.
The Nasdaq starts at 2,483.
Cisco Systems says third-quarter profit fell 5 and a half percent on acquisition expenses. Sales at the world's biggest maker of networking equipment beat analysts' estimates, up 10 percent.
Disney, also out with earnings, said second quarter profit rose 22 percent due to more visitors at its theme parks and big box office returns from its National Treasure movie sequel. Sales were up nine and a half percent.
