An island getaway to Nassau can be closer than you think this summer.
Nassau County is the gateway to Long Island, and some New Yorkers heading east to the Hamptons might think of it as being in the way of their summer vacation. But now, county officials are positioning it as a tourism contender in its own right, located just 20 miles from Times Square.
For the first time in its history, Nassau County is marketing hotel packages that focus on the specific interests of golfers, families, couples, shoppers and nature lovers.
Participating hotels include Uniondale’s Long Island Marriott, the Garden City Hotel, Glen Cove Mansion and Plainview’s Four Points Sheraton. Each hotel features a two-night stay with a selection of added values such as rounds of golf and mini-golf at Eisenhower Park, vouchers for popular restaurants, passes to Jones and Nickerson Beaches, as well as admission to several of the museums along Museum Row.
