New Wii titles help get families in top beach form

If the slightly warmer temperatures have given you that itch to hurry up and get outside so you can play some of your favorite picnic/BBQ/beach games, there are a few titles for Nintendo's Wii that'll get you in top form once the weather finally does get warm enough.

Set on a generic island resort, complete with nice relaxing background music, Summer Sports: Paradise Island, rated E for everyone, is as casual as a casual game gets. You have a few faster paced mini-games, like volleyball, badminton and basketball shootout, and then there are the take-your-time, take-it-easy type competitions like horseshoes, croquet, lawn darts, and mini-golf -- all set in this lush, tropical environment.

If the slightly warmer temperatures have given you that itch to hurry up and get outside so you can play some of your favorite picnic/BBQ games, there are a few titles for Nintendo's Wii that'll get you in top form once the weather finally does get warm enough. Adam Balkin has more.

Since they all require the same basic physical actions needed for the actual competitions, this one may actually help finally give you an edge over that seemingly unbeatable cousin at family gatherings.

Summer Sports: Paradise Island breezes into stores April 11th for about $40.

Big Beach Sports also brings you oceanside with some beachy versions of some popular sports like Frisbee golf, soccer, and football.

This may also be your chance to get a hang of some sports more popular outside the United States, like cricket and bocce ball. And once again, how you play in life is how you play in the game.

Since this won't launch until summer, it's not necessarily going to help you gain beachy July form come Memorial Day. Instead, it will keep on the beach, while enjoying your air conditioning on those punishing days of August.

Price, and rating, has not yet been nailed down.
