COLONIE, N.Y. -- AAA says travel over the Thanksgiving holiday will drop for the first time in six years. Officials said 41 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home for the holiday. That's down from 41.6 million last year.
We visited Albany International Airport on Friday where officials said no matter how many people intend on traveling, they are ready to make it an easy trip. They've even created a new expert security lane for those who travel all the time and know the routine well. The airport also has a lane designed for family travel with wider lanes for strollers.
While travel over the Thanksgiving holiday is expected to drop this year, officials at Albany International Airport said they're ready to make it an easy trip travelers.
Federal Security Director Brian K. Johansson said, "What this does is it organizes things here and it lowers everybody's stress level. When everybody's stress level is lower, we're able to focus on security a little bit better. It's better customer service, so it's a win-win."
Airport officials remind travelers to be aware of the TSA guidelines and to arrive two hours before your flight to assure you have enough time to go through security.
