MONTGOMERY COUNTY -- An Amsterdam woman is charged with child endangerment after an incident at the Montgomery County Office Building in Fonda on Tuesday.
Montgomery County Sheriff Michael Amato said Michelle Waterson, 23, was in the waiting room with her 2-year-old son when she became angry with him and slapped him several times, also striking him in the head with a rolled up wad of paper.
Waterson was arraigned for endangering the welfare of a child and sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $500 bail. The judge also issued an order of protection for the child, who is now in protective care.
