HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. -- A North Country teacher accused of sex abuse has been acquitted of the most serious charged against him.
A jury took four days to come to a decision in the Kasson O’Neil trial. He was found not guilty on all of the felony charges, but was found guilty on two misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of the child and sex abuse.
O’Neil was accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl on the track team he coached in 2005 at Hudson Falls High School. Seven of the 21 charges filed against O'Neil were already dropped. Defense attorney Terence Kindlon called into question the girl's credibility and the jury apparently agreed.
After four days of deliberations a jury has acquitted Kason O'Neil on several charges involving a former student. But he's not completely off the hook. Dave Detling has the details.
O'Neil will be sentenced for the charged he was found guilty of on October 17th.
