ALBANY, N.Y. -- A major development in the fight against online child pornography was announced Tuesday, as the State Attorney General's Office struck a deal with Cablevision.
Cablevision is one of the largest internet service providers on Long Island and the company has agreed to immediately block users access to online child porn. Similar agreements have been reached between Andrew Cuomo's office and Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, AOL, Sprint and Time Warner Cable.
A six-month investigation by the Attorney General's Office found 88 newsgroup sites containing almost 12,000 images of child pornography on the internet.
