LATHAM, N.Y. -- Friends and family of Benjamin Stowell come together to raise awareness and money to fight cancer. The 8-year-old was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. Now, to fight the disease, Ben will need surgery, and months of chemotherapy.

Despite his illness, Ben has created a comic character named "The Green Drakkoman”. His parents say the character has helped Benjamin stay strong during his fight.

"The Green Drakkoman has been assisting him throughout his fight and the individual, we view the doctors the nurses and all of the family and community that has come around us to help with this battle as part of the Green Drakkoman team," said Tim Stowell, Ben's father.

The people who donated to the Ben Foundation were able to dig into some Ice Cream at the Price Chopper fundraiser, and got to add on their own special toppings all for a great cause.
