PITTSFIELD, MA. -- In Pittsfield, a firefighter is recovering after falling down a flight of stairs while battling a house fire. Fire officials say lightning sparked the flames at the Gale Avenue house.

The house was damaged by the flames, and suffered smoke and water damage, as well. The man who owns the home says about 3-quarters of his house has been destroyed.

"The storm came through, it did a lot of damage. There are a lot of trees broken off of the top, and it also damaged another house at the end of the street,” said Brian Hoag, Pittsfield resident.
