CAPITAL REGION, N.Y – A grant worth $2.7 million will put science and engineering grad students from RPI in high school classrooms across the Capital Region.

The five year grant, awarded through the National Science Foundation, will bring research from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to local school districts. It'll expose students to advanced scientific concepts and emerging technologies.

The theme of the new program will be "Energy and the Environment.” It'll aim to encourage students to pursue a future career in science, engineering or technology.

A formal announcement will be made on Monday.
