QUEENSBURY, N.Y. -- The Department of Health temporarily shuts down two eateries at the Great Escape water park in Queensbury after its workers were found to be sick. The Department is trying to figure out why nearly 200 people fell ill at the park in the past week.
Officials said it may be a norovirus, which is not considered serious for the general population and goes away in about 48 hours, but it is contagious. Experts said it takes a common source like contaminated food or water to infect multiple people so rapidly.
Camp director Alicia McAulliffe-Fogarty said out of the 150 campers she took to the park last weekend, more than sixty caught the virus including her.

"It's actually one of the worst GI bugs I've had. It comes on very rapidly. Violent vomiting. Diarrhea. Very violent for about twelve hours,” said Fogarty.
She said all of the camps meals were catered by the park.
A spokesperson insists that there is no clear connection between their facility and the illness and they are cooperating with the Department of Health.
The rest of the park remains open as park employees deep clean and sanitize.
