Massachusetts weddings will now cost more
BOSTON (AP) -- Are you getting married in Massachusetts? If you are, be prepared to dish out a bit more. Governor Deval Patrick has just enacted a law that increases the amount justices of the peace can charge couples to perform weddings.
Before the law justices could charge anywhere between $75 to $125 depending on travel arrangements, and now those fees have risen to $100 to $150.
Justices of the peace are still not allowed to charges for providing flowers, music, a photographer, or location.
