Missing public defender found
WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.Y. -- The County Sheriff's Department issued a missing person's report for the attorney on Monday. Earlier that day, he missed a number of cases in family court.
By Tuesday morning, according to the Sheriff’s Office, he had been located and was safe. Officials say it's what they call a welfare check and say there's nothing criminal about the investigation.
Patrick Barber has been in the news recently. A former client is now part of a class action lawsuit with the New York Civil Liberties Union accusing the state of persistent failure in providing legal service for the poor.
