Albany County Family Court judge arrested for DWAI
GREEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- An Albany County judge was arrested Thursday for driving while ability impaired by alcohol.
Green Island police said Albany County Family Court Judge Gerard Maney was observed around 8:30 p.m. making a U-turn to avoid a sobriety checkpoint at the Green Island Bridge.
After the U-turn was observed, Green Island police proceeded to conduct a traffic stop. After about a mile and a half, Maney pulled over along Route 32 in Watervliet.
The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and then gave Maney a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was taken into custody and given a breath test, which resulted in an arrest for DWAI, along with vehicle and traffic citations.
He was released on an appearance ticket to return to Green Island Town Court on July 7.
