The sheriff's office said it appears Conway shot his wife with a 12 gauge shotgun early Wednesday morning, then turned the gun on himself in the couple's bedroom. The gun was recovered at the scene.
Authorities said Conway left a hand-written note at the home, as well as a voice message on a family member's home asking to be forgiven, but did not give further details.
A 16-year-old son and 20-year-old daughter were not home at the time of the murder-suicide.
The sheriff's office said Conway had recently been laid off from his job and that the couple had been experiencing marital problems in recent weeks.
