LAKE LUZERNE, N.Y. -- The Warren County Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit and run that claimed the life of a young man.

The accident happened around 1 a.m. Tuesday on Route 9N near the intersection of East River Drive in the Town of Lake Luzerne.

Witnesses at the scene said a dark-colored pickup truck or suburban hit Jeremiah Tessier, 19, of Lake Luzerne in the roadway near the entrance to Stewart's. The vehicle stopped at the intersection with East River Drive, then took off toward Corinth.

Tessier was taken to Albany Medical Center where he later died.
