ALBANY, N.Y. -- A Berne man has entered a guilty plea in connection with a crash in Knox that claimed the life of a teenager.

Police said Moore was driving his Hyundai sedan on Street Road on Oct. 1 when he lost control and crashed into a tree.

The backseat passenger, Ryan Slingerland, 16, of Knox, died at the scene. Moore's girlfriend, Ashley Overbaugh of Berne, was severely injured in the crash.

At the time, police said Moore did not admit he was driving the car, but an investigation found that he was driving with only a Learner's Permit. They said he was driving recklessly at a high rate of speed.

Moore is expected to be sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation.
