Paragallo banned from NYRA tracks, arrested for animal cruelty
COXSACKIE, N.Y. -- The New York Racing Association has banned Ernie Paragallo from doing business at its tracks. He has also been charged with cruelty to animals.
State officials seized 177 horses by from the farm Paragallo leases in Coxsackie on Wednesday. On Friday, he was arrested and charged with 22 counts of torturing or injuring animals and failure to provide nourishment.
Paragallo is also an agent for Paraneck Stable in Queens, which is owned by his two daughters.
NYRA officials say Paraneck-owned horses won't be allowed to race at Aqueduct, Belmont or Saratoga until a new agent is appointed to run the stable.
