Former classmates speak out as murder investigation continues

By: Steve Ference

Craig Vosburgh
COEYMANS, N.Y. -- "I knew him. I hung out with him once in a while," said Craig Vosburgh's former classmate, Austin Gamsjager.

Those who knew Craig Vosburgh, 18, said he was well-liked.

"He was funny," said Gamsjager. "He was kind of a nice guy."

On Tuesday, some of his friends went to his MySpace page to say goodbye after his father, Glenn Vosburgh, 44, was charged with his son's murder after police arrested him at a friend's house. Craig was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound, according to an autopsy.

Former classmate Brendan Crilley said, "I guess trouble at home."

Former classmates said Craig had dropped out of Greenville High School a few years ago, before moving to Coeymans. They said it was no secret there were problems at home and clashes with his father.

"He was a trouble-maker, but he never meant anything by it," said Crilley.

Defense attorney Joseph Warren said, "He wasn't there at the time."

While the father's attorney says his client couldn't have committed the crime, police continue to investigate.

Meanwhile, sources tell us the murder weapon, a gun, has been found in this case. But police won't comment on that or any other aspect of the case. It would be, if true, the only piece of evidence tying Glenn Vosburgh to the murder of his son, at least as far as we know so far.

Gamsjager said, "I was just shocked because he was the second person my age to go in the last two weeks."

For students in Greenville, it comes only days after a teen they went to school with died in a car crash.

Crilley said, "It makes me kind of think, what else could happen? Who could be next?"

For now, Glenn Vosburgh is being held in Albany County Jail without bail. A grand jury is set to meet later this week - and Craig Vosburgh's friends say goodbye as best they can.
