Wounded Warriors weekend

By: Ken Jubie

LATHAM, N.Y. -- In Latham Friday evening, 15 Wounded Warriors, as they are being called, come to the Capital Region for a weekend of rehabilitative winter activities. They will ski and snowboard at Jiminy Peak Mountain in the Berkshires. This is the fourth year of the event put on by STRIDE.

More than 400 people welcomed the heroes to the opening banquet at Michaels Banquet House. One of those heroes is Afghanistan veteran and Wynantskill native Kevin Miller Jr. who says this kind of event goes a long way to showing support to vets.

"It shows that people are still out there that are going to help vets and that are going to take care of vets and help you out," Miller said.

Many of the soldiers who attended the event are happy about President Obama's plan to bring home troops in Iraq by August of 2010.
