NEW BALTIMORE, N.Y. -- A one-car crash in New Baltimore claims the life of an elderly woman and leaves two other people injured. It happened around 5:45 p.m. Monday on State Route 9W at the intersection with Exit 21B of the Thruway.

State Police said a minivan had exited the Thruway at Exit 21B and crossed over 9W, hitting an embankment on the west side of the highway.

Passenger Cathryn Styga, 84, of Coxsackie, sustained extensive internal injuries and died at Albany Medical Center Tuesday morning. The driver, Maureen Hanse, 35, also of Coxsackie, suffered a head injury and a 14-year-old boy suffered a broken arm.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
