Controversial signs being hung in North Creek

By: Web Staff

WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Quite a bit of controversy for one small town in the North County.

For more than a month now, residents in the Warren County town of North Creek have been wondering who's been putting posters all over town. Some of the posters read, "just punch them out," and criticize the town officials for nepotism and ignoring workplace violence.

The main target of posters is the Johnsburg Highway Superintendent Dan Hitchcock. Residents are upset because Hitchcock appointed his brother-in-law to a vacant position even though he had been fired amid accusations he punched another highway employee. Two of the people responsible for the signs, Peter and Paul Heid, are stepping forward.

"We feel they are not doing their job properly and we've tried other avenues of getting things changed and we figure, again, the best way of getting things changed is to let people know what's going on, ‘cause it's an obvious issue that is not in the best interest of the town," said Paul Heid.

The Heid brothers say the town shouldn't be embarrassed by the signs, but they say the town should be embarrassed by its board's actions.
