Hoops for Hope
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Hundreds of kids hit the court to shoot hoops for cancer. The students participated in the 6th annual Free-Throw Challenge at Maple Ave Middle School Saturday.

Students aged 7 to 18 stepped up to the aptly named "charity strip" to raise money for six different organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House, and the American Cancer Society. People we spoke with say they had one thing in mind; helping others in need.

"I decided to do an event where kids could be empowered to make a difference in the fight against cancer. So, it was an idea I had and it took off because so many people jumped on and said they'd help,” said Nancy Holzman, Founder and Chair.

"This year my grandfather has cancer, and I just like to raise money for him and just to help people that do have cancer get better,” said Trae Dussault, Wilton resident.

Altogether, the fundraiser has raised more than $50,000, breaking that milestone Saturday.
