Hackett Middle School students watch inauguration
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany students got an important history lesson on Tuesday by watching the inauguration. Students from Hackett Middle School got together for Tuesday’s historic event.
The school-wide assembly included several activities, including musical performances, student essays and even a hip hop musical number. And there was of course, the swearing in of our 44th president.
The school principal says it's important that students witness this together.

"Our President-elect has said one of his goals is to bring the country together. It was critical for us to bring our whole student body together, to symbolize that sense of unity and I think that's what they're excited about today,” said Principal Kenneth Newman.
The inauguration assembly was one of many activities planned throughout the Albany School District.
